Who Owns The Fairgrounds?
Perhaps the most common misunderstanding regarding the Paris Fairgrounds...
The Paris Fairgrounds is completely privately owned & operated.
Many visitors & Paris residents alike have often thought the Paris Fairgrounds was public property, owned by the County. That is not the case infact. For over 150 years the Paris Agricultural Society has been the sole 'owner' of the Paris Fairgrounds.
The Paris Fairgrounds, all 117 acres, ten buildings and equipment is 100% privately owned by the 350+ members that make up the Paris Agricultural Society. The Paris Agricultural Society (known today commonly as PAS) is an incorporated, non-profit, registered charity.
Though PAS very, very much appreciates the support of the County of Brant as well as the Ontario Provincial & Federal Canadian governments, PAS must 'make ends meet' on their own in order to operate the Paris Fairgrounds for the benefit of the entire community.
As a privately owned and operated entity, the PAS is goverened by the various laws of the land, its' own constitution as well as those stipulations governing non-profit & charitable organizations.
In order to be able to produce Canada's Best 5 Day Fair, The 'Paris Fair' for which the grounds are best known, PAS must conduct fundrasing activities in forms of special events and year around facility rentals. In addition, PAS must conduct 'business' in a manner that cultivates an environment worthy of community business and corporate partnership - for which PAS is very proud and appreciative to all the businesses we call our 'partners'.
The Paris Fairgounds - a mainstay in the community - completely privately owned & operated, committed to the agricultural roots of our community & 100% community focussed.
